Data center site construction, self-performed.
K&K is a Houston construction company for data center field work. Our crews self-perform site and civil work, transformer foundations, steel erection, rigging and equipment setting, and retrofits inside facilities that stay running. Licensed electrical contractors install the power; the project’s Engineer of Record seals the design. Since 2023 we have built and retrofitted power-dense sites in Texas, Mississippi and Arkansas. We also develop our own projects: our GB300-class reference design is public, 371 pages, free.

A 20 MW site in Bowie, Texas: transformer foundations, site, roads and water, freight and lifting, and the handover to operations, 2025. A conventional sequence takes about a year. One past delivery, not a promise for the next one.

What we build, and who we bring
We self-perform
- Site and civil work: grading, drainage, roads, laydown
- Concrete foundations, including transformer foundations and screw-pile systems
- Steel erection for prefabricated building systems
- Freight, rigging and equipment setting, with our own trucks, trailer and crane
- Retrofits inside live facilities: cooling, airflow, water, sound
- Daily site direction, hidden-work photo records, and the handoff package
Through licensed partners
- Electrical installation, including medium voltage: licensed electrical contractors, coordinated by K&K on schedule and work boundaries
- Mechanical and refrigeration trades, where state licensing applies
- Sealed design: the Engineer of Record named in the project contract. Anything on site that changes the design goes back to that engineer.
Field record: bitcoin-mining sites, 2023–2025
Our completed field work is in bitcoin mining: high-density, power-heavy sites built on short schedules, for owners who needed the ground, the steel and the power interface done at once.

- Arkansas · 2024Retrofit inside an operating facility: water curtains, negative-pressure fans, hot/cold isolation, water connections and sound attenuation, with a one-year workmanship warranty.
- West Texas · 2023 · four sites, 120 MW programPower and site development, utility and county coordination, ground work at two sites, and nearly 100 containers of equipment procured and delivered.
What carries over: civil work, transformer foundations, power-heavy logistics, utility coordination and work inside live facilities. What does not: an air-cooled mining machine draws about 3–4 kW; a GB300-class rack is about 136 kW and liquid-cooled. How a K&K site runs
With the utility
- Load is submitted as separate numbers, not one: billable IT, UPS-protected load, facility demand that the service and generation must carry, and the service ceiling.
- Energization in agreed steps. A 2025 site came up at about 200 kW for transformer tests, then 1 MW, then 10 MW, scheduled around the grid’s peak windows and with grounding completed to the utility’s specification first.
- The utility’s acceptance standard is built to, not the code minimum. We learned that once, at our own cost.
On the ground
- A site lead runs work zones, crews, equipment movements and safety coordination every day. Crews live on site in RVs and modular quarters.
- Hidden work is photographed before cover, with location; the handoff package carries equipment records, installation photos, test results and the open-items list.
- Field records are kept in KK Data Field Logger, the iOS app we built: photos, video, voice and location, queued offline and uploaded when a connection returns.

K&K also develops data centers for its own account. Our GB300-class project is designed and not yet built; it will be owned and operated by K&K. An r/HPC reader (u/chumbucketeer), after spending an afternoon on the network drawing set we posted in October 2026. He also flagged the MPO-12 optical risk and the missing storage paths. The Public Edition P2 network book now carries a storage-access model and optical-channel checks.
The numbers behind the drawings
The Data Center Lab works through the figures a site and its utility depend on, each labeled by how it was obtained.
